SafeSport training is a front-line abuse and misconduct prevention measure that raises awareness of misconduct and abuse issues in sport. This training (“SafeSport Trained”) is designed to help participants become more proficient at identifying, preventing, and responding to misconduct and abuse in sport.
All Board Members, High School coaches and summer Kids Running Club coaches were already required to be SafeSport certified, and the Board has decided that all 2022-23 Middle School program and Ski Cat coaches must also be certified. Some volunteer coaches are already certified because they work with another organization that has required it. If a volunteer is not already certified the SSC will reimburse the cost of US Ski & Snowboard membership and SafeSport certification. Program leaders will be hosting “how to get SafeSport certified” meetings to walk coaches through the sign up and certification process later this fall.
